Xipe Totec (shee-pey toh-tek), the Aztec flayed god of life, death, and rebirth, symbolizes the Earth’s renewal of the seasons as life sheds its dead “skin”, and spring vegetation sprouts from seed. This unique, old-world inspired flavor brings together dried chilis, sweet plums, and earthy spices in a mild but richly flavored sauce. Use it to enhance grilled meats and vegetables, roasted and baked potatoes, chili, BBQ dishes, and fried eggs. 1/10 heat.

The concept of this recipe was enticing; however, the executed product fell short of my expectations. I wanted savory concoction with a sweet undertone. Instead, the ingredients on this salsa lost a collective flavor I wanted a sweet umami,. It was hotter than anticipated and greatly acidic. Also the there was a lack of texture in the sauce, it was blended to the consistency of ketchup.
One of tve best sauces i ever had, and i had many. Very pleased 🙏🏽
I’m not a guy who likes to burn myself when I eat. I found your sauce to have an overall pleasantness.. The flavor palette was not hot. The warmth was part of an horizon of flavor..
My only complaint…. It didn’t last long enough.(ha)!
So I just bought another jar of Totec’s Tears and am going to try another different flavor , the Cinco,

I use this on both steaks and salmon. Added a nice savory flavor with a hint of heat.
